Welcome to the shop of the Israeli Origami center.
The Center was founded in 1993 and is the home of origami in Israel. Over the years,it has developed a high reputation for its professional services and products, the best of which are offered on the site.
Many of our products are made to our exacting specifications here in Israel. This gives us full control over what we make and gives employment to local businesses. Much of our packing is done by the elderly and people with a mental health disability. Most of the profits from our sales go to developing and creating more products.
We love Origami! We love to fold and to spread the joy that it brings to people of all ages and backgrounds, as hobby, as math, as design tool, as craft…or simply- and best of all!.. as fun.
Our Story…
In 1993, Miri Golan opened the center in response to a growing demand for Origami workshops in Israeli Schools. Since then, the activities of the center have expanded to include bi-annual conventions (10 to date) with top international guests, folders groups, festivals, publications, courses, exhibitions and more.
In parallel to the center, Miri has developed the online e-learning Origametria program, which teaches geometry to grade 6 using origami. In 2017, it was accepted into the National Curriculum for Math by the Israeli Ministry of Education, world first for origami. In 2000 Miri married the English origami artist, Paul Jackson, a professional since 1983 and one of origami’s most respected and influential figures. His vast Knowledge of origami, his 40+ books about origami, his network of contacts and creativity have significantly widened and deepened the activities of the center.
